She went through this two years before me. Same numbness. Same bottles. Same dead desire.
She called me on a Sunday:
"How many products are you taking?"
Four.
"How many brought your desire back?"
None.
"Because you don't have five problems. You have one."
"One transition killed your sleep:
1) Bad sleep spiked your cortisol.
2) High cortisol killed your comfort.
3) No comfort killed your mood.
4) And all of that shut down your desire.
Your body cut the desire last because it decided you could survive without it."
I sat on my kitchen floor and cried.
Not because I was sad.
Because for two years I thought I was broken.
I performed in my own skin. I forgot what wanting felt like.
And the real reason my body shut down — the biological reason — was something nobody told me.
